The
second volume in this series is a split - E.P. by electro-pop
artists Adi Gelbart
and Frederik Schickowski:
Adi Gelbart, one of the prominent musicians in
Israel, has managed to leave an impression of his unique and personal
signature-sound, combining musical sophitication with naivity
and childlikeness, in the four releases he brought out during
the past four years (most of them through the deceased labels
Fact and Audio-Collage). He
also put out several tracks through the American label Standard
Oil Records. The collaboration between Ak-Duck and Gelbart
commenced over a year ago, when Gelbart contributed a track to
the label's latest compilation, and performed alongside members
of Ak-Duck at the album's launch party, as well as in the Dream-Team
Festival that took place last year. We
first came across Frederik Schickowski in a
compilation of the British record label Irritant
(which, up until its shut-down, was imported to Israel by Ak-Duck).
After getting to know him deeper, we discovered one of the most
original Pop musicians.
His style combines organ beats with vocals (usually in German)
and capturing melodies.
Schickowski released his first full album in Irritant,
a 7" record in the German label Lux Nigra,
and many tracks in different compilations around the world,
and is soon to release a new album in the British label Catmobile
(Random Number, Printed Circuit).
