Ak
Duck is proud to present the sixth and final volume in the series
Ducks Don't Swim In Swamps, a mini-compilation, which includes
4 songs by 4 Israeli female artists:
The opening track by Rockstar Wannabe / Ella
Gilboa, produced by the young Noise duo Panda Porn
(Alma Ben-Yossef and Tomer Rosenthal), is a nightmarish ballad
for a doll named Sadie, which moves along the seam between Noisy
sounds and Poppy structures.
Gilboa, a visual artist and musician, is currently working on
new materials with New-Wave artist Polish Butterfly.
In 2003 Gilboa released an E.P. in Ak Duck, and several tracks
in Ak Duck and FACT Records compilations. She
is also one half of the Punk/Pop duo K.G. Babes,
together with Nico-Teen.
The
second track on the CD is by Her Highness /
Hadas Hinkis, a musician who is currently living and studying
in The Netherlands.
Hinkis released two internet albums through bird
Song records, in which she created Pop songs for an imaginary
circus, by cut-and-paste recordings of broken toys, children's
music instruments and cheap keyboards. The track appearing in
this compilation is an operatic cabaret about shopping.
The
third track is by the Black & Whites, one
of Sharon Kantor's many appreciated projects (The Girls, Spinster
Sister).
The track continues the musical atmosphere of the album under
the same name, which was released in 2004 by the late Audio
Collage records, and it was specially written for her only performance
with these materials, at the "Dream Team" music festival,
which was held in Jerusalem.
The
fourth and last track is a song by Nico-Teen /
Zohar Shafir.
Nico-Teen, whose voice may be heard on many Ak Duck projects
throughout the years (collaborations with Spark-O, Polish Butterfly,
Rockstar Wannabe, K.G. Babes and more) released an album earlier
this year, which combines sweet and domestic Pop songs alongside
dirty Noise tracks. The album was released as collaboration
between the labels Ak Duck and Something On The Road. The track
which appear on this compilation is a Casio-homage to the 60's
Pop (bands like The Shangrilas).
